Ukraine’s military has retaken more territory in areas illegally annexed by Russia, made gains near the southern city of Kherson and strengthened its presence in eastern regions retaken over the weekend.

The advances were confirmed by Vladimir Saldo, a Russian-backed leader in the Kherson region, who claimed Russian forces were digging.

Meanwhile, in the east, Ukrainian forces advanced towards the Russian-controlled Lugansk region.

During a televised address on Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky listed a number of restored villages in the region, saying the list was “absolutely far-reaching”.
