Freelancing: Kamatz is changing course to attract major accounts

To enhance the development model, Kamatz transitioning from a freelancer mediation platform model to a personalized service to connect freelancers and key accounts.

A new website with a new graphic charter introducing Kamatz’s new position went online on November 22, 2022.

“Source and file management remains complex for large structures. Kamatz takes care of the administrative complexity to be managed on behalf of our clients »says Efraim Cuog, CEO and co-founder of Kamatz.

The transition was gradual. “After the initial launch of Kamatz as a general freelancing platform in April 2020, we started looking at the large account market and testing a special offer from September 2021 to February 2022”Ephraim Quog says.

“When we discussed with the groups, we realized that freelancing is not so mature” Ephraim Quog notes.

Using its database of 17,000 freelancers registered on the connection platform, Kamatz divided the process of assigning a freelancer a mission into four stages:

  • Expression of needs of the client company,
  • Prequalification of freelancers Carried out by the Kamatz team,
  • Organization of research stages (interviews, follow-ups) until the freelancer’s profile is approved,
  • Contract with Kamatz “mission taker”: follow-up, monthly reports, invoice to company, payment to freelancer for mission completed.

“80% of our activity is based on the logic of framework agreements signed with clients in three different verticals: IT and information, marketing and communication, support functions (finance, procurement, recruitment, etc.)”Ephraim Quog says.

He refers to rival players such as Comet, LeHibou or La Crème de la Crème, who “remain specialists only in IT professions”..

Services provided by Kamatz to freelancers

“Freelancers come to see us for our long-term assignments: six months. To get activity, Kamatz offers freelancers a monthly payment through a cash advance system. This allows them to not wait to be paid at the end of long missions or to be regularly identified by customers.” Reminds me of Ephraim Quoc.

“Our model is mainly based on commercial portage [ou portage administratif] with freelancers having their own structures. This is 90% of cases. Less than 10% of freelancers use salary portage. »

Kamatz also offers relevant tools or services for freelancers to facilitate professional management.

  • Internally, Kamatz offers a mini-CRM and expense and revenue tracking suite for accounting preparation.
  • Externally, it has partnered with Indy (accounting), CommeUnCSE (benefits), Gonto (bank account), LegalPlace (administrative formalities) and Dimpl (factoring).

Towards faster profitability

Kamatz claims to be transparent in its retention model: invoicing the company is based solely on the 20% platform user fees (or service fees) charged by the platform. TJM has no commissions set by the freelancer.

The startup has 110 key accounts and ETI clients including Microsoft, FNAC Darty, Dailymotion, Dalkia and Mano Mano. 80% of the tasks are entrusted to freelancers through the framework agreements signed with the client companies of the platform.

Kamatz has a team of 25 people, including 50% account managers and 30% developers.
