NFL Twitter slams Skip Bayless for Damar Hamlin’s tweet
As the NFL world gathered to pray for Damar Hamlin, Skip Bayless fired a heartless tweet that led to calls for him to be fired.
Monday Night Football ended in horror with the Bills and Bengals game suspended after Damar Hamlin was taken off the field by ambulance and taken to the hospital.
Hamlin fell after the impact. He had to be resuscitated on the field while the players and coaches of both teams were visibly shaken.
Fans, media and the sports world reacted widely on Twitter, expressing their concern and sending their wishes to Hamlin and his family.
As for Skip Bayless, he made a fool of himself with the most soulless tweet of the century.
“There’s no doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game — but how? A game of this magnitude so late in the season is so important to the outcome of the regular season … it suddenly seems so inconsequential.”
The rest of Twitter immediately came for Bayless.
NFL Twitter calls for firing Skip Bayless after Damar Hamlin’s tweet.
Bayless is looking for a thrill. He makes a living by saying inflammatory things, getting reactions from them. So, in a sense, this is not a surprise.
Still, you’d think Bayless would realize that turning the situation into football stories isn’t the right thing to do. A person’s life hangs in the balance. It’s literally the only thing that matters. No playoffs. Not a rating. Not week 17.
40 minutes after tweeting, Bayless had not deleted the tweet, despite being fully informed. That probably says it all.
