The most expensive and cheapest banks of 2023
Online banks break all records
But according to the details, are you one of the lucky ones? Is your bank one of the most profitable? Online banks, surprisingly, continue to break all records in terms of price competition. As in 2022, Monabank customers will pay the service baskets defined by CLCV (subscription to SMS alerts, account maintenance fees, commissions for withdrawing cash from another bank, etc.). For Fortuneo, the services basket is free. With Hello bank, consumers will pay between €24 and €122 depending on the offers they choose. Finally, cards are free at Boursorama if you follow the terms of use. Included services are also free.
Cheapest traditional banks
Which banks have the most favorable rates among the 97 traditional banks of France? CLCV classifies businesses according to three profile types: the light consumer (a small customer who uses a few services), the medium consumer, known as the active pair, and the heavy consumer, who uses the highest level of services. The most attractive prices for the average consumer are offered by the territorial versions of Crédit Agricole, BNP Paribas and Crédit Coopératif.
Conversely, LCL, Société Générale, CIC and Bred Banque Populaire Métropole are among the worst students.
What about small consumers, that is, those who only have one account and use a limited number of services? In the top-10 cheapest banks for this profile, Crédits Agricoles are still the best students. Milleis and LCL also offer competitive rates. At the other end of the rate spectrum, Brad Banque Populaire Métropole and BNP Paribas are among the cheapest banks for the same small consumer.
Finally, for the “heavy consumer”, only Crédit coopératif remains in the top 10 of the cheapest banks still covered by Crédit Agricole funds. LCL, Société Générale and Milleis are still in the top 10 of the most expensive enterprises.
CLCV has also prepared a ranking of banks by branches available here.
