Marco Odermatt, who won last year’s super-G (recovery from Lake Louise) for his first Wengen (and second on the first descent), returns to the Lauberhorn with great confidence. After winning the Adelboden giant, the Swiss, who won the World Cup general classification leader in front of the crowd, have two opportunities to shine in the super-G and then in the downhill.

Women’s week: Shiffrin targets record and comeback descents

More than one and Mikaela Shiffrin will be the record holder for the number of World Cup victories. She tied with fellow American Lindsey Vonn on Sunday in Kranjska Gora, which could allow her to overtake her in the slalom on Tuesday and close in on Ingemar Stenmark (86 successes). The 27-year-old skier, who has won six of the last seven events on his program, four of the season’s six slaloms, is a heavy favorite in Flachau.

On Saturday and Sunday, the fast women return to racing after St Moritz (Switzerland) in mid-December. Blues corner: great return and those involved

Camille Cerutti returns on the women’s speed side. In October, the skier from Risul, who is back skiing after a heavy fall during the Olympic downhill, took the time to return to competition in St Anton, in particular with Romane Miradoli, Tessa Worley and Laura Gauchet. There are no surprises in the slalom in Flachau with Nastasia Noens at the top of the poster and four youngsters surrounding her.

Wengen is without Victor Muffat-Jeandet, who fell heavily in Adelboden and is ruled out for the rest of the season by doctors. Regularly, Alexis Pinturault will compete in the super-G and slalom on Sunday, with Clément Noël and youngsters Leo Anguenot, Steven Amiez and Paco Rassat in the blur. For the rest of the pace group, Matthieu Bailet and Brice Roger did not return, while Florian Loriot was called up for the super-G.
